EURICOM MONOGRAPHS: NEW MEDIA AND DEMOCRACY With the increasing impact of new media on democratic institutions, the European Institute for Communication and Culture (EURICOM) has initiated a book series on these thems. Titles in the series will be concerned with: Internet newsgroup discussions and the public sphere; political actions and parties online; electronic deliberation and e-voting; the digital divide and cyberdemocracy; online newspapers as arenas for public information and debate; and the relation between the Internet and traditional media. Studies published in the series are intended to reflect on advancements in democratic theory, grounded in recent empirical investigations of new media initiatives. Although the primary objective is to contribute to intellectual understanding of transformations in the democratic process through new media, titles may also contribute toward improved political practice and action.
