WOMEN, CULTURE AND MASS COMMUNICATION This series focuses on gendered aspects of culture and mass communication and seeks to develop a broad-based list which is nonetheless narrowed on the woman-centered subject, whatever the actual medium or mode in question. In this way, the series can be seen to be driven by an interest in and focus on the embodied female subject rather than a concept such as "politics" or "ideology," although both these are in play. Although not intending the series to be prescriptively feminist in orientation, authors at the very least should adopt a critical perspective that acknowledges the differential position of women and men in society.
